Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has unveiled plans for the construction of a medical university in the Northern part of the country
According to him, Saudi King, Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has pledged to finance the construction of a medical university and 42 Senior High Schools in Ghana.
He spoke at an event to mark Eid ul-Adha celebrations in Accra
Saudi Arabia has pledged to bear the cost of the construction of a medical university in the northern part of Ghana.
This was revealed by the Vice President Dr. Mahamamudu Bawumia during Sunday, August 11 celebration of the Eid-uL-Adha at the Black Star Square.
In addition, he said the Saudi King, Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has pledged to finance the construction of 42 Senior High Schools in Ghana.
The Vice President also disclosed that the government of Cuba has agreed to offer training to 40 brilliant but needy medical students from the various deprived communities in Ghana.
He said 20 males and 20 females from Zongo and other deprived communities would be trained as medical doctors in Cuba following a training arrangement between the Ghana and Cuban governments.
He further urged Muslims, especially females, to take full advantage of the programme by taking science-based courses seriously.
Highlighting the significance of Eid-uL-Adha, Dr. Bawumia urged Muslims to live in the image of Prophet Ibrahim.
He also called on Muslims to prioritise peaceful co-existence with all denominations and non-Muslims.
